This application offers a comprehensive approach to calculating the number of cables, conduits, or pipes that can be accommodated within a designated penetration. It integrates fundamental mathematical principles and theoretical concepts with illustrative worked examples, enabling users not only to obtain numerical results but also to understand the underlying methodology behind these calculations.

The core algorithm utilizes a 'circle packing' technique tailored for arrangements within circular or rectangular openings. This functionality is applicable to various scenarios, such as round penetrations through beams or floor slabs, or rectangular slots within concrete walls or slabs. All items passing through the opening are considered to have uniform outer diameters, or alternatively, the diameter of the largest item may be used.

Circular Penetration:

• Enter the applicable penetration diameter and the diameter of the cables, conduits, or pipes.
• The software computes and displays an estimate of how many items can be fitted within the specified circular opening.
• If the resulting number is less than 10,000, an option to visualize ('Draw') the configuration is provided, illustrating how the items are arranged within the penetration.

Rectangular Penetration:

• Input the width, height, and diameter of the cables, conduits, or pipes.
• The application calculates and presents an estimated maximum number of items that can be accommodated in both matrix and staggered arrangements.
• For configurations with fewer than 10,000 items, users may choose to 'Draw' each configuration to visually inspect how the items are positioned within the opening.
